So have you ever had something in your head that could be amazing but you knew you just weren't ready??? Well, this shoot was that for me! It came to life when this amazing make up artist, Dawn Halverson said "would you ever do a trash the dress shoot?" Of course she had no idea that I had been thinking about this for years! Ummm... YES! She said, if I did the shoot she would do the make up.. little did she know she would end up being one of my amazing models too! Next call was to my cousin Kelly Judson, she was in for doing hair.. so incredibly talented, I knew she would help to transform these woman into brides. Next Step.. find the brides.. I knew this would be super fun and I wanted to make it special for the woman too! I did a model call but only with woman I knew. This is how I came up with these 6 amazing, brilliant, caring, loving, fantastic woman! With hair and make up a little bit of wine and some snacks, we met on the most GORGEOUS day of February.. it was as if someone ordered the weather for me. Taking over 400 pictures and keeping over 225 pictures, it was hard to narrow down just which ones to show off, but here goes..
Seriously this is a power woman! and I'm not biased because she is my sister! This woman works her booty off every day and is raising two teenage boys! If raising teenage boys doesn't make you a power woman, i do not know what does! She has stood by me every step of my photography journey and this session wouldn't have been right with out her! One hiccup, her dress has been packed away for years in storage, good thing I still had mine!!! She hopped right into it and we were all set!!
Friends, this mama of 3 little ladies is building her business as a make up artist and I highly recommend her! She is passionate about what she does and so fun to work with! She also is an amazing mom with her girls and has a huge heart. I know we will be working together again in the future and am so blessed to have reconnected with her after all these years!
This firecracker was a natural in front of the camera and brought her own amazing style to our shoot!! Kris is the only one I didn't know in advance and I feel lucky that she was part of this day!! This woman is crazy determined and I know is going to be an amazing nurse when she graduates! In between hair, make up and location changes, this girl was STUDYING! Crazy commitment and so inspirational!
Ashley is a hoot and I was so pumped that right when I posted looking for models for this shoot, she was IN! This amazing woman is mom, wife and preschool teacher! Her passion for working with children shows and is truly inspiring. I couldn't think of anyone sweeter to teach our children! I am so glad I have gotten to know her a little bit better!
I love this girl. It is amazing I had not seen her in almost 20 years and it was like no time had passed. This crazy lady is a wife and mother of 4!! With triplet girls and a sweet little boy you know she is crazy busy! She is also hysterical and totally embraced this shoot! She got in front of the camera and rocked it out!
This gorgeous woman is a wife, working woman, hunter, fisher and amazing friend. When I first asked her about doing the shoot she was a little wishy washy but when it came down to it and I needed her, she was all in! She spent hours scrubbing her wedding dress to get ready for this session! She is truly one of the good ones and I know she would do anything for me, so blessed
Each of these woman brought something different to this shoot! They made my first dream shoot come true! They didn't blink an eye when I asked them to crouch, lay, sit, stand, lean... they just did it.. in heels... They are all powerful woman, amazing woman who are working woman, moms, caregivers, friends, business owners, students and just all around fantastic and real. Thank you for being apart of this day!
As I think about what Christmas and the holidays mean to me.. I think about my kids mostly and just that look of excitement and anticipation the their little faces hold. I spend a lot of time behind the camera, trying to capture these faces, I hope to spend more time looking right at them, face to face.. seeing all those glimmers and twinkles in their eyes when they run up the stairs on Christmas morning and head right to the stocking.. or wait for my husband to get out of bed, which to them feels like an eternity. Do not get me wrong, of course my camera will come out, but I want to take in all of that which is Christmas, family and the true meaning of it all.
This little peanut is Madison, Madison' mom found me online and I had the opportunity to take her family to a great spot to take some shots downtown. Don't get me wrong, I love love love taking pictures of family and friends and friends of family and friends, but it is always fun when someone reaches out to me with interest in my photography that I never have met before. Little Madison loved to smile as mom and mom and dad were holding her, but once we changed her cloths and gave her a Santa hat, she got into the Christmas spirit.
